What the science says (1990–2026): Vitamin A

These citations support correction of deficiency, specified forms, and elemental amounts — the same logic used in MD's Choice formulas. They are not claims that a supplement treats disease.

Sommer 1995; WHO 2011–2023. Vitamin A deficiency remains a leading cause of preventable childhood blindness. Correction of deficiency, not megadoses in already-sufficient people, is the evidence-based use.
Tanumihardjo 2021; Lancet Global Health 2023 reviews. Retinol and provitamin A carotenoids have different safety ceilings. Specified form and dose still matter on a label.
