What the science says (1990–2026): Iodine

These citations support correction of deficiency, specified forms, and elemental amounts — the same logic used in MD's Choice formulas. They are not claims that a supplement treats disease.

Zimmermann 2008 Lancet; 2023–2025 thyroid-nutrition reviews. Iodine is required to make thyroid hormone. Both deficiency and excess harm the thyroid. Prenatal and iodized-salt policy rest on this.
